Atchison Man Gets Prison on Theft Charge
04/09/2012

A 52 year old Atchison man will head to prison after being sentenced in connection with the theft of cheese and a multi-tool set.

Ricky Godshall was given 10 months after Monday in Atchison County Court after County Attorney Gerald Kuckleman invoked a special rule since Godshall has two or more prior theft convictions.

He was arrested by Atchison Police for taking those items from Wal Mart on March 2nd, just days after he was released from jail on another theft charge.

He was sentenced on that charge to probation, suspended from a six month prison sentence, as well as a concurrent probation sentence of possession of narcotics, suspended from a 17 month prison sentence.

Godshall also had a six month jail sentence for possession of marijuana suspended to a year probation to run concurrent to the previous two charges.

These charges stemmed from a February arrest where he took medication from his neighbor and had the narcotic and marijuana found on his person upon his discovery by police.

However, the 10 month prison sentence was to run consecutive to the probation in this case.

He will have on year of post-release probation on the most recent felony theft charge.
