Brown County Developmental Services plans to convert an old grocery store in Hiawatha into apartments.

The renovated building will serve as home for 14 clients who currently live in apartments BCDS rents on North 4th Street.
Lock says AHRS Construction of Bern will serve as contractor on the project, which is being financed through money the agency has in savings.
Lock says they plan to hold a groundbreaking ceremony later this month for the project, which they hope will be completed late this fall.
BCDS also owns an apartment complex on Apache Street near the high school, where 7 clients live. It was renovated several years ago.
