The Peru State College softball team opened Heart of America Athletic Conference play this week with a pair of wins over Mid-America Nazarene.
Sophomore Devon Massengale pitched a three-hit shutout to lead the Bobcats to a 3-0 win in game one. Peru State erased a four-run deficit to win game two, 5-4.
With the wins, Peru State improved to 18-11 on the season and 2-0 in the conference. The ‘Cats host a pair of doubleheaders this weekend, Saturday against Evangel University and against Central Methodist University on Sunday. Both doubleheaders are scheduled to begin at 2:00 p.m.
