She will graduate from Doniphan West High School this spring. Griffiths, who will be a Jackson Heights High School graduate, will be a Scottie Ambassador and student athletic trainer at HCC as she prepares for a career in that area. She is the daughter of Lu and Teri Griffiths of rural Holton. Swalley will be coming to College from Blue Valley Northwest High School and will be a member of the Scottie football team and the Education Club. He is the son of Barb Gray and Robert Swalley of Overland Park.
The Foundation Scholar program began with a bequest from the estate of Hilda Triplett, who was a member of the HCC Board of Trustees.
Selection as a Foundation Scholar is based on an application process that documents the applicant’s academic record and involvement in a variety of school and community activities. Final selections are then based on an interview with the selection committee. Up to five Kansas high school graduates are selected as Foundation Scholars each year
