During their annual banquet in January, the Nebraska Amateur Softball Association presented the organizations Governors Award to Falls City.
The Governor’s Award honors a Nebraska community, which has excelled in its commitment and service to the citizens of the community, in sports and recreation programs for people of all ages. It is not limited to softball activities, but includes all forms of recreation.
Among the amenities that helped with the award was the five softball and baseball fields; the aquatic park, golf course, schools, adult education and technology courses offered in and around Falls City, the library, senior center, retirement homes, summer activities for youth, outdoor activities and medical facilities.
City Administrator Gary Jorn and Council President Jerry Oliver traveled to Hastings to receive the award on behalf of the City.
