(KNZA)--A Hiawatha Community Hospital interim chief exective officer has been named.
According to a press release, the Hiawatha Community Hospital Board of Trustees has appointed John Broberg to the position.
Broberg has been in health care for 42 years including 26 years as a senior leader. He has been CEO for three different hospitals. Broberg retired from Via Christi Hospital in Manhattan earlier this year and started Broberg Consulting Group, LLC to provide executive coaching and interim CEO services.
The release says Broberg attended the hospital board meeting on October 18th to discuss his interim strategy.
Hospital Board of Trustees Chairman Nick Hrencher says Broberg has provided leadership to successfully implement culture changing initiatives in three different organizations that resulted in improvement in employee engagement, operational and financial performance. Hrencher shared that one of the primary goals the board has asked Broberg to focus on is to assist the board with the selection of a permanent CEO for the hospital.
Roger Barnhart resigned as hospital CEO effective August 16th after taking over as CEO July 1st following the retirement of longtime hospital administrator John Moore.
Since that time, an executive team consisting of selected hospital staff members has been serving in the interim.
