Second Burglar Sentenced To Prison
(KAIR)--27 months behind bars.
That’s the sentence handed down to the second man involved in the rash of Atchison burglaries that occurred earlier this summer.
Lansing resident Antonio Clayter was sentenced Oct. 14 in Atchison County District Court for three counts of burglary and one count of criminal damage to property.
In the first burglary charge, he faces 27 months in prison, while in the second and third charge, he was sentenced to 12 months. In the criminal damage to property charge, he was given six months in jail.
However, the charges will run at the same time.
The charges stem from a June 17 arrest for Clayter following a report of a burglary at Iron Horse BBQ in Atchison.
Further investigation revealed he was involved in three other burglaries occurring from mid-May to mid-June at businesses including King’s Super Store, All American Pawn and Nell Hill’s, according to Atchison Police Chief Mike Wilson.
Clayter was not alone in these crimes. His partner, 22-year-old Devan Newson was sentenced to 16 months behind bars for his part in the crimes.
