(MSC News)--Authorities have identified the two people killed in a St. Joseph house fire early Thursday morning.
St. Joseph Fire officials Friday identified the victims as Carol Black and her grandson, Zachary Gilmore.
KQ2-TV reports their bodies were found more than seven hours after the fire broke out at the home on Olive Street.
An autopsy is being performed to determine the exact cause of death.
Authorities say Black's son, who is paralyzed, was rescued by a passerby shortly after the fire broke out. He was taken to a Kansas City hospital. His name has not been released.
Investigators believe the fire started in the basement of the home. The cause remains under investigation
