( KNZA )--Alcohol will now be allowed on certain Horton city property.
The Horton City Commission Monday evening approved an ordinance amending the city code to allow for the possession and/or consumption of liquor or cereal malt beverages at the Blue Building when its been utilized for private parties; campsites at Mission Lake; city owned baseball and softball fields when they are being used for competition between adult teams; and the city airport when its being utilized for city approved adult activities.
The ordinance will take effect after publication in the official city newspaper.
In other business, City Attorney Kevin Hill discussed with commissioners the new state law requiring local governments to allow concealed weapons in public buildings beginning July 1st. Hill says the law allows local governments to seek a six-month delay.
The commission voted to send a letter to the Kansas Attorney General requesting the delay.
