Charles Albert Schletzbaum, a man who loved life and lived every moment to its fullest, died January 7, 2025. He was born on April 30, 1965, in Atchison, KS, the son of the late Vincent John Schletzbaum and Rose Marie Prohaska Schletzbaum. He graduated from ACCHS and went on to Vo-Tech to study Auto Mechanics.
Charlie was a life-long, avid farmer who loved what he chose to do for a living and had a great passion for his farming operation. His friendships extended beyond what most could even imagine, you could tell that because Charlie was always on his phone! He loved to check in on people and could carry on a conversation forever. You could often find him boating on the river; taking his friends and family on the boat to water ski and enjoy the sand bars were some of the best times. He loved to travel to as many destinations as possible. Charlie would snow ski as often as he could, he loved watching old westerns and grew a passion for Harley Davidsons. He was a past president of the Atchison County Farm Bureau Board and Jackson Farmers Inc. Coop Board and served as the treasurer for the Lancaster Township.
He is survived by his siblings, Jim Schletzbaum, Joe (Diane) Schletzbaum, Paul (Stacy) Schletzbaum, Rose Mary Malm, Anne (Pete) Corpstein and Kathleen (Gene) Scherer; his right-hand man, Clint (Emily) Corpstein, and Charlie’s Angel, Lori Payeur. He loved his nieces and nephews and his countless cousins and of course, his dog, Otis. Charlie wanted to give special thanks for Nina and Gerald Schletzbaum for their extra special care over the last few years.
Mass of Christian burial will be Monday, January 13, 2025, at 11:00 am at St. Louis Church at Good Intent with burial to follow in the church cemetery. A rosary will be Sunday, Jan. 12th at 4:00 pm at the Arensberg-Pruett Funeral Home with visitation to follow until 6:00 pm.
