Velva Sue Brown

Velva Sue Brown, 70, of Everest Kansas, passed away on Tuesday, November 26, 2024, at her home in Everest, Kansas, surrounded by her loving family. Velva was born November 9, 1954, in Kansas City, Ks, the daughter of Gerald and Glenda Baker Collins.  Velva received her GED and went on to obtain her LPN license working for several nursing homes in the area.  Velva loved going to the casino, sewing, cooking, baking and being with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Velva and Charles “Charlie” Brown were united in marriage on January 17,1969 in Farley, Missouri.  He preceded her in death on November 16, 2010. To this union 4 children were born. Survivors include three daughters, Glenda Caylor of Everest, Jeri Lee of Horton, Loretta and Jim Barton, Kansas City Mo, and a son, Henry and Joy Brown of Everest. Two sisters, Erma Pace of Hamilton, Mo, and Yvonne and Jim Smart of Golden City, Az. 8 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Velva was also proceeded in death by her parents, a grandson, a brother and sister.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 30th at 11:00 A.M. at the Dishon-Maple-Chaney Mortuary, Horton Kansas, with Brad Farr officiating.  Burial will follow at the Miller Cemetery east of Everest, Kansas. The family will greet friends from 10:00 A.M. until service time.  Memorials are suggested to NEK Hospice and can be left in care of the funeral home.
