James M. Wolters, age 88, of Parkville, MO, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 8, 2024, at his home.
Mass of Christian burial will be on Thursday, October 10, 2024, at 1:30 p.m. at Corpus Christi Church, 18760 Rogers Rd, Atchison, KS 66002. Burial will follow in Corpus Christi Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the Corpus Christi Cemetery or a local food bank of the donor’s choice. The Arensberg-Pruett Funeral Home has been entrusted with funeral care.
Jim was born on March 20, 1936, in Atchison, KS, the son of Matthew and Ruby (Boatright) Wolters. He graduated from Maur Hill Prep and Emporia State University. He was united in marriage to Verda Kramer on September 3, 1962, at Corpus Christi Church in Mooney Creek.
He was a lifelong fertilizer salesman, beginning at a Coop and then for Farmland Industries for over forty years, selling fertilizer world-wide. His real passion was farming and helping others. He farmed as much as he could his entire life and loved assisting friends and family in their operations. He loved his family and always wanted to make sure that everyone’s children were doing well. He enjoyed fishing, and was known for his important role as the chef on walleye fishing trips to Minnesota. Jim always enjoyed cooking for family gatherings. His love and kindness will be missed by his family and friends.
He was a member of St. Therese Catholic Church in Parkville and the Knights of Columbus. He served his country in the United States Army.
He is survived by his wife, Verda Wolters; his sons, Bryan Wolters (Judith) and Todd Wolters (Jill Ward); his grandchildren, Brendan Wolters and Brandt Wolters (Josie); and a sister, Judy Darrah.
He is preceded in death by his grandson, Levi Ward; brother, Tom Wolters; and sister, Marilyn Chmidling.
