Sharon J. Gibson, 84, died Tuesday, September 24, 2024.

Graveside services will be held Friday, October 4, 2024, at 1:00PM at Round Mound, Cemetery, 2718 Osborne Road, Atchison, Kansas, with Pastor Paul Cline from Faith Valley Church of God, presiding. Sharon was born in Atchison, Kansas on October 25, 1939, the daughter of Donald Francis “Pete” and Virginia Lucille “Lucille” (Kasten) Thompson. She had one brother, Donald F. and two sisters, Carol S., and Patrica A. “Patty.” She graduated from Atchison High School in May 1956.

Sharon and Lloyd E. “Gene” Gibson, married September 1, 1957, at the first Christian church of Atchison. They were married for 60 years before Gene’s death in 2018. Together Sharon and Gene were the proud parents of three children, Randy, Tamra, and Bradley “Brad.”

Sharon devoted her life to her husband and raising their family. She enjoyed being a homemaker and mother, family camping, spending time crafting, and swimming for exercise. She was a long term and avid member of the Atchison YMCA. As her family grew, she took her grandchildren to swim with her at the YMCA.

Survivors include Randy E. and Lisa Gibson and Bradley A. and Dorothy Gibson, as well as nine grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandson. Sharon is preceded by both of her parents, husband Gene, daughter Tamra E. Gibson (2016), brother Donald Thompson, and sisters Carol Willming and Patty Chapple.
