Frank L. Platt

Frank L. Platt, 83, of Bern, Kansas passed away with his wife by his side, on Thursday, September 19, 2024 at the Sabetha Manor in Sabetha, Kansas.
Frank was born on July 4, 1941 in Longmont, Boulder, Colorado to James G and Frances Hewitt Platt. He graduated from Longmont School in 1959 and served in the Colorado National Guard from 1961 until his honorable discharge in 1967.
On April 4, 1965, Frank married the love of his life, Kathie Forsyth at the First Methodist Church in Longmont. He had a diverse career, working as a dairy farmer, for IBM, and as a campground owner. Ultimately, he became a building contractor before retiring in Bern, Kansas. Throughout his life, Frank lived in Longmont, Windsor, Colorado, and Custer, South Dakota.
An active community member, he attended Northridge Church in Sabetha and was involved with the Colorado Holstein Association, the Kansas Holstein Association, and the National Holstein Association. He served as a 4-H leader and was a member of his high school baseball team.
Frank received numerous accolades, including Coach of the Year for Colorado State, and was a dedicated member of the Dairy Judging Team, a 10-year 4-H member, and an All-Conference Baseball Player. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and especially loved watching his sons and grandchildren play sports. His legacy is marked by his passion for community, family, and the outdoors.
He was preceded in death by his father, James, in 1965; his mother, Frances, in 1987; and his brothers, James G. Platt Jr. in 2023, Richard Platt in 2018, and William Platt in 2019.
Frank is survived by his beloved wife, Kathie; their two sons, Trevor (Sherri) Platt of Longmont, Colorado, and Trent (Diana) Platt of Bern; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Cremation has taken place and Frank will be buried at the Burlington Pioneer Cemetery in Longmont, Colorado.
Memorial for Frank will be designated at a later date sent in care of the family.
