Obituaries Announcements
Jon David Klepper, 80 years of age, passed away into the arms of the Lord, peacefully, at the Pawnee County Memorial Hospital on September 7, 2024, surrounded by family.
Jon was born and blessed into a large and loving family on June 28, 1944 to Kenneth and Bonita (Stewart) Klepper, in Las Vegas, NV. Jon was delivered by Dr. Hardy, a brother to the famous actor of Laurel and Hardy Show. During that time, the Klepper family lived in Kelso, CA. Both, Jon and Becki (Smith) were born in Nevada, as it was known that Kenneth was dead set on no kids being born in California and being a “true native” of California. Jon- family later moved back to Pawnee City, NE on March 30, 1946.
As a child, Jon was known for his big smile and heart, always caring and thinking about others. Right alongside his brothers and friends, he had a mischievous side. He was always involved in some “good” shenanigans. Jon learned a strict work ethic at an early age with helping around the family home. By the age of 10 he was working with his father at the local sale barn, cleaning out lots, bagging manure for .25 cents.
Jon obtained his education at Pawnee City Public Schools up to the 10th grade, where he then joined the work force. He continued to help at the family sale barn and briefly worked for the railroad that went through Pawnee City. In the early 1960-, Jon was employed at the Mobile station in Pawnee City, where in 1963 he would eventually meet and fall in love with the love of his life, Cheryth Ann Korber.
Jon and Cheryth were united in marriage on October 25,1964 at the Faith Baptist Church, Pawnee City. The night of rehearsal, the wedding party and family members helped put the finishing touches on the new church, by bolting down all the pews, within the congregational hall.
Jon then took a job at Campbell- Soup in Tecumseh, NE, from 1964-1969, in maintenance.
In 1969, Jon and Cheryth became business owners by purchasing what would be known as Klepper Oil and Kent Feeds of DuBois, NE., where he served the surrounding communities until 2018 when he retired.
Jon and Cheryth had three children, between the years of 1970-1978, two daughters, Brenda and Melissa, and one son, Eric. He was a devoted father, that worked from sun up to sun down, providing for his family, always making the children- activities and sports/musical events. He instilled within his children strong work ethic, morals and values, and an absolute faith in God. The family attended church services morning and night at the Faith Baptist Church while growing up, watching their parents love and serve the Lord.
Jon was known to have a led foot, which sparked his love for hot rods, drag racing, and go-cart racing. He enjoyed traveling to the states of Colorado and Tennessee. Seeking out historical sites and driving to musical venues with family. Family was very important to Jon. He made a connection within many of his brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews that still remains today. He loved spending time with his siblings, telling stories about the good old days.
In 2019, Cheryth passed away leading to a new way of learning to live, which would then lead to a diagnosis of worsening heart failure and Alzheimer- Disease in 2020. With the love and support of his two daughters and siblings, Jon continued to live life at home until September 2023, where he eventually moved to Seneca, KS.
