Terry Ann Slater, 74, of Mayetta, KS passed away August 23, 2024 surrounded by her family. She was born April 23, 1950 in Holton, KS the daughter of Clarence R. Jr, and Irma J. Wooten. She graduated from Onaga High School in 1968.

Terry worked for various tribal governments as a Project Manager, serving Native communities by supporting food, education and housing.

She was a member of the Iowa Tribe. Terry attended the Mayetta and Circleville Christian Churches where she considered both congregations her family. Terry enjoyed baking, shopping for and attending the events of her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She took much joy in her younger years, cheerleading, pitching and coaching softball. Most of all, Terry- family meant everything to her and she took much pride in being a loving, devoted and caring wife, mother and grandmother.

Terry married Larry A. Slater on June 23, 1968 at the Christian Church in Havensville, KS.

Survivors include her husband, Larry, of the home; 2 sons, Lucas Slater and Mathew Slater both of Mayetta, KS; 4 daughters, Angela Strube (Kevin) of Horton, KS, Missty Slater of Hoyt, KS, Annie Slater of Holton, KS and Lisa Potts (Mi-kes) of Mayetta, KS; 13 grandchildren, Kasey, Korby, Katelin, Juliet, Nanin, Woksha, Hunny, Clarence, Tte-mko, Wabmo’ew, Skup, Leola and Nanokashi; and 4 great grandchildren, Hudson, Sierra, Chandler and Bentley.

Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 28, 2024 at Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Burial will follow to the Holton Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 5-7:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 27, 2024 at Mercer Funeral Home. Memorials may be given to the Jackson County Crisis Pregnancy Center c/o Mercer Funeral Home, P.O.
