Richard L. Dahl
Dishon Maple Chaney Mortuary in Horton
rural Everest, KS

Richard L. Dahl, 78, of rural Everest, Kansas passed away surrounded by family at the Kansas University Medical Center, on Wednesday, January 25, 2023.

Richard was born August 1, 1944 in Horton, Kansas the son of Carl and Magdalena Torkelson Dahl and lived his entire life on the family farm in Atchison County. He graduated from Atchison County Community High School in 1962 and not long after, completed a short course in Agribusiness from Kansas State University. Richard was a farmer and worked passionately at that work and many other types of work throughout his life to support his family. To say that he could and did make or fix just about anything was an understatement. Many in and around Atchison and Brown counties will remember him as their safe, quiet, caring, but firm school bus driver.

He is survived by his wife of 19 years, Sue (Miller) Dahl, and his four children: Julie (Philip) Wethington of Wamego, Kansas, Anthony (Cindy) Dahl of Hoyt, Kansas, Laurel (Steve) Murdie of Meriden, Kansas, and Brandon (Cathy) Dahl of Lawrence, Kansas. He also leaves behind 12 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren and his stepchildren and their families.

Visitation and a Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, February 11, 2023 at Zion Lutheran Church north of Everest Kansas. Visitation will begin at 10 am, followed by a Celebration of Life at 11 am. A private family gathering for interment will be held at a later date.
