Larry Dean Bunton, 79, of Topeka, KS, passed away Thursday, January 19, 2023 at his home. He was born January 26, 1943 in Holton, KS, the son of Cecil O. and Velma Mary Jane (Oxendale) Bunton.

Larry graduated from Holton High School in 1961 and later attended the Computer Programming Institute.

He was a proud combat veteran of Vietnam. Larry accepted a 4 year enlistment with the United States Army Security Agency, where he worked in intelligence, radio traffic analysis and cryptography.

Larry was employed at the Topeka Capital Journal from 1972, retiring in 2001. His responsibilities were Computer Programming, System Analysis and later as System Administrator of the Typesetting Computer Systems.

Survivors include his common law wife, Donna Jane (Edwards) Rhyne of the home and 2 sisters, Beverly Harding of Topeka, KS and Betty Faust of Houston, TX.

He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant sister, Judy.

Memorial Visitation will be 12:30 p.m. to 1:45 p.m. Friday, January 27, 2023 at the Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Memorial Service will begin at 1:45p.m. with Military Honors to be conducted at 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
