Kevin Michael Alexander Cavanaugh, 61, Atchison, Kansas died August 12, 2022 at Amberwell Atchison.

Mass of Christian burial will be Saturday, August 20, 2022 at 10:30 A.M. at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Rev. Jeremy Heppler as celebrant.  A rosary will begin Friday, August 19, 2022, at 6:00 P.M. in the chapel of Arensberg-Pruett Funeral Home with visitation with the family to follow until 8:00 P.M.  Memorial contributions are suggested to Maur Hill Mount Academy School or the American Cancer Society and may be left in care of the funeral home.  The family has requested that attendees wear Chiefs attire.

Kevin was born June 3, 1961 in Atchison, Kansas the son of Michael and Shirley Vogt Cavanaugh.  He attended St. Joseph’s, Sacred Heart and St. Benedict Catholic Elementary schools and graduated from Maur Hill Prep School.  He then attended Benedictine College.

He was employed at I&M Machine and Fabrication in St. Joseph, Missouri.

Kevin enjoyed music; bar b queing; cooking; and was known for his great sense of humor and a history buff.

He is survived by his mother, Shirley Cavanaugh, Atchison, KS; his longtime companion, Carolyn McDaniel, Atchison, KS; a son, Mark Alexander, Savannah, MO; a daughter, Reilly Jo Cavanaugh, Fort Worth, TX; a brother, Timothy Cavanaugh, West St. Paul, MN; two sisters, Lori Cavanuagh, Overland Park, KS; and Amy Belveal, Nortonville, KS; and five grandchildren.

Kevin was preceded in death by his father, Michael Cavanaugh and a brother, Patrick Cavanaugh.
