Charley Holsman
Dishon-Maple-Chaney Mortuary in Horton
formerly of Horton, KS

Charley Frank Holsman, 96, of Topeka, Kansas, formerly of Horton, Kansas, passed away on Friday, August 12, 2022 at his home in Topeka, Kansas.

He was born on December 22, 1925 in Bogue, Kansas, the son of Charley and Cora Merrel Holsman. Charley was a car body, fender repairman and Salvage Yard Manager for Foster Ford for many years, retiring in 1989 after 31 years of service. He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Horton since 1959, where he also served as trustee and was also a member of the Masonic Lodge #35. He loved spending time with his family and pets, Homer, Bo and Trixie. On March 22, 1950 he married Dorene E. Worley in Mora, New Mexico, they enjoyed over 72 years of marriage.

Survivors include: two daughters, Kelley (David) Hamersky of Berryton, Kansas and Loree (Jeff) Curl of Cedar Park, Texas; three grandchildren, Alex (Alexandra) Curl, Courtnee (Evan) Spyker and Morgan Hamersky; two great grandsons, Grayson Spyker and Landon Curl; brother, Gerald Holsman of Horton, Kansas;

Charley was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Edwin Holsman, sister, Evelyn Peters and a grandson, Tobey Langdon.

His wife, Dorene, died Monday, August 15.

A joint funeral services will be at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, August 17, 2022 at the Dishon-Maple-Chaney Mortuary in Horton, Kansas where the family will greet friends from 10:00 A.M. until service time. A private family burial will be at the Horton City Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association and may be sent in care of the mortuary.
