Robert " Red" Wells

Robert F. “Red” Wells, 84, of Meriden, died Wednesday, August 10, 2022 at home with his family around him. 

He was born December 23, 1937 in rural Topeka, one of 11 children of Edward Dewey, Sr. and Edyth Irene Marsh Wells.  He was a 1955 graduate of Emmett High School.  He  served as the manager of the Meriden Co-Op facility  for many years until 1994. He then worked at the St. Mary’s Elevator from 1994 until his retirement in 2000.   “Red” was a long time member of the “Liars Club” coffee group at Jeff West Junction in Meriden.  He also enjoyed golfing and deer hunting, but most of all he loved his family and spending quality time with his grandchildren.  

He married Charlotte Nadine Dick on July 5, 1958 at Perry, She survives at home. He is also survived by one daughter, Pamela (Todd) Holaday, of Holton, two sons, Chris (Jan) Wells, Meriden, Bruce (Susan) Wells, Topeka, five grandchildren, Brian Wells,  Reese Holaday, Jamie Wells, Quinn (Brandon) Schumann, Faith (Trace Nelson) Holaday and three great-grandchildren, Briley Wells, Camden Wells and Kelton Schumann. 

He was preceded in death by a son, Timothy Ray Wells and 10 siblings, Vernon D. Wells, Charles W. Wells, Dorothy I. Eiserman, Mamie L. Tadlock, Edward D. Wells, Jr, Ruth A. Lukehart, Mary F. Rodecap, James C. Wells, Julia G. Melvin and John H. Wells.

  Funeral Services will be at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, August 16, 2022 at the Silo Event Center, Meriden. Visitation will be 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM before Services.  Burial will follow at Meriden Cemetery.  Memorials suggested to Jefferson County Friends of Hospice or to Holton Community Hospital Pulmonary Rehabilitation Unit in care of Barnett Family Funeral Home, P.O.
