Lawrence R. “Larry” Worman, age 84, of Atchison, Kansas, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 3, 2022 surrounded by his family at Amberwell Atchison.

Larry was an identical twin to Fr. Jeremiah Worman and they were born on July 27, 1938, in Effingham, Illinois, sons of Augusta (Siegfried) Worman and Henry A. Worman. Larry attended St. John’s Catholic School and graduated from Antigo High School in 1956. He earned his teachers certificate from LCTC in Antigo, WI.

He and Linda Kretz were united in marriage on August 10, 1963, at St. John’s Catholic Church in Antigo, WI. They shared nearly fifty-nine years of marriage together.

Larry proudly served his country in the Army National Guard of Wisconsin from November 12, 1956 until his honorable discharge on November 11, 1959.

Larry was a life-long entrepreneur and worked for nearly seventy years of his life; all of his endeavors are too many to mention! He began at a young age as a paper boy and began his entrepreneurship when he bought Morning Glory Dairy Products Distributor in Antigo, WI, where he offered a full range of dairy to the community. He sold Morning Glory and his family moved to Atchison, Kansas, in 1987, when he and his wife purchased the Atchison Dairy Queen; operating the store for ten years. His next endeavor may have been his favorite, he drove the Atchison Trolley telling the history and stories about Atchison. Although every day the stories may have changed, there was never any doubt that he could be heard by all with his deep base voice. Larry spent his final working years at VanDyke’s Grocery assisting with whatever task was needed until his retirement in 2019.

Larry’s Catholic faith was very important to him and was an active member of each parish he belonged to.

Survivors include his wife, Linda Worman; three daughters, Karen Kehrees (Tony); Beth Gallagher (Richard) and their children, Makena and Maddox; Theresa Worman; a son, Dr. Peter Worman, D.D.S (Kelli) and their four children; two brothers, Robert Worman; Michael Worman.

He is preceded in death by his parents and his siblings, Dr. Leonard Worman, Donald Worman, his twin, Rev. Jerry Worman, Katie Lund, Marge Wild, Joan Byrne and Barb Pozza.
