Warren “Dean” Sharp

Warren “Dean” Sharp, 92, of Holton, KS, passed away Tuesday, July 5, 2022 at The Pine in Holton, with family by his side. He was born January 27, 1930 in Clay Center, KS, the son of Albert Everett and Laura Mae (Conkright) Sharp.

Dean graduated from Clay Center High School in 1947. He was a member of the Holton community since 1991 and formerly of Council Bluffs, IA. He worked for over 34 years as a clerk for the Union Pacific Railroad, he was a self-employed carpenter and a farmer. In 1993, he began as Pastor for the Community of Christ; located from his home. He was a member of Jackson County Friends of Hospice.

Dean married JoAnn Marie Hannan on October 8, 1950 in Riley, KS. They celebrated over 71 years of marriage.

Survivors include his wife, JoAnn of the home; son, David W. Sharp (Cindy) of Shidler, OK; sister, Lois J. Sharp-Winter of Topeka, KS; 14 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by 2 daughters, Cathy Jo Chandler and Arlene Kay Cathey; son, Gary D. Sharp; 2 sisters, Wilma Arlene Sharp and Shirley Funk; brother, Loren Dale Sharp and a step-brother, Lloyd Johnson.

Funeral Services will be 11 a.m., Friday, July 8, 2022 at the Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Family will greet friends one hour prior to service time. Burial will follow at the Memorial Park Cemetery in Topeka. Dean will lie in state 10 a.m. – 6 p.m., Thursday, July 7, 2022 at Mercer Funeral Home.
