Jack Fuqua

Jack “Pops” Fuqua, 90, of Mayetta, passed away on Tuesday, April 19, 2022 at the Stormont-Vail Health Center in Topeka. 

He was born May 30, 1931 in Florida, and raised in Brewton, Alabama.  His parents were Herman and Willie Mae Cox Fuqua. 

Jack was a licensed sheet metal worker and had owned and operated Fuqua & Sons Roofing & Guttering for many years.

He married Betty Martin on October 15, 1953 at Assumption Catholic Church in Topeka.  She survives, of the home.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his son, Steve Fuqua, his daughter, Janie Teetzel, and a great granddaughter, Abella Rose Teetzel. 

Other survivors include two sons, Van Fuqua, Los Molinos, CA and George Fuqua, Mayetta; four daughters, Debbie Albright (Steve), Mayetta, Mary DeVader (Doug), Holton, Kim Fuqua (Lenny Riley), Mayetta and Michelle Auten, Hillsboro, TX; a son-in-law, Floyd Teetzel, Mayetta; two sisters, Lois Solomon, Brewton, AL and Jean Ates, Milton, FL, twenty-three grandchildren, twenty-five great grandchildren and two great-great grandsons.

Funeral services will be 3:00 p.m. Saturday, April 23rd at the Chapel Oaks Funeral Home in Hoyt.  Burial will follow in the Mayetta Cemetery.  Jack will lie in state after 9:00 a.m. Friday at the funeral home where family and friends will meet from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.  Memorials are suggested to the American Diabetes Association, and may be sent in care of the funeral home, PO Box 1034, Holton, KS  66436.  On-line condolences may be made at chapeloaksfuneralhome.com
