Ramona " Smoky" Hamlin

Ramona Mae “Smoky” Hamlin, 87, of Topeka, KS, passed away March 31, 2022 at her daughter’s home, with family by her side. She was born May 20, 1934 in Emmett, KS, the daughter of Pete and Elsie (Malloy) Durham.

Smoky attended Holton High School. She retired as Manager of the M.A.S.K. Development Team from Blue Cross and Blue Shield after 33 years of employment.

She was a member of Seaman Congregational Church and a member of the Moose Lodge both in Topeka.

 Smoky married Billy Keith Hamlin on June 30, 1951 in Ft. Smith, AR. They celebrated over 44 years of marriage. Billy preceded her in death on July 27, 1995. She was also preceded in death by 2 sisters, Leona Sisson and Peggy Spalding and 2 brothers, Chuck and Gene Durham.

Survivors include 2 sons, Billy K. Hamlin, Jr. (Karen) of Atlanta, GA and Steve Hamlin (Asif Habib) of Chicago; daughter, Diana Sue Hamlin (Kathi West) of Topeka, KS; 8 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Funeral Service will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 9, 2022 at the Mercer Funeral Home in Holton with burial to follow at the Holton Cemetery. Family will greet friends one hour prior to service time. Memorials may be given to the Mooseheart Child City and School (a residential child in-need care facility from infancy to high school, west of Chicago, IL) or APDA (American Parkinson’s Disease Assoc) c/o Mercer Funeral Home, P.O.
