Rita Ann (Terry) Meyer, 79, of Sabetha, Kansas died Friday, March 25, 2022 at her home in rural Sabetha, Kansas.  She was born on July 27, 1942 the daughter of Charles W. Terry and Esther Marie (Roth) Terry in Hardtner, Kansas.

Rita graduated from Kiowa High School in 1960.  On August 3, 1968, she was united in marriage to Delwin L. Meyer of Sabetha, Kansas.  They were blessed with 53 years of marriage.  

Rita worked for the Apostolic Christian Home in Sabetha as a dietary aide and cook.  Also, she worked for the military where she administered the Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB) aptitude testing for the Department of Defense to service men and women.  In addition, she administered aptitude tests for Kansas, Missouri, and Nebraska school districts to help students determine what they would like to study in college or to do for a career.  After she retired, she started traveling with Delwin in his semi-trailer truck in 1989 while he was employed by D.J. Franzen trucking company.  Then, in 2005, Delwin and Rita started their own trucking company, Rock Creek Transportation.  So, for 28 years Rita regularly traveled with Delwin in the semi truck which she thoroughly enjoyed.  It provided them the opportunity to visit numerous places throughout the United States and Canada and to spend time with each other.

Rita was preceded in death by her parents.  She is survived by her husband, Delwin L. Meyer; a sister, Eleanor Miller, of Washington, Illinois; and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 1, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at the Popkess Mortuary Chapel in Sabetha.  Prior to the funeral service, a visitation will be held at Popkess Mortuary from 10:00 a.m. until service time.  The interment will be made in the Sabetha Cemetery.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Sabetha Community Hospital or the Sabetha EMS (Emergency Medical Services) sent in care of the Popkess Mortuary, 823 Virginia, Sabetha, Kansas  66534.
