Susan Bestwick
formerly of Sabetha , KS

Susan Kay Bestwick, 73, formerly of Sabetha, KS, passed away unexpectedly at Stormont-Vail Health in Topeka, KS, on March 6, 2021. She was born to Neil and Eunice (Bougher) Bestwick on November 2, 1947, in Sabetha, KS. She grew up on the family farm and graduated from Sabetha High School in 1966.

Susan was known for her positive, cheerful attitude, and compassion for others. She worked for many years as a certified nurse and medication aide at the Apostolic Christian Home and Lakeside Terrace. Over the years she also worked at Casey’s, Country Mart, and the former Rock Creek Hotel.

She loved animals and always had a loyal companion by her side. Susan spent numerous hours gardening and tending to her flower beds. She loved researching her family history and would look at old photos for hours. Although Alzheimer’s robbed her memory for the past several years, she still knew her family and continued to enjoy life.

Susan was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Phil and Roger Bestwick, granddaughter Aleah Reynoldson, and beloved companion, Raymond Kinast. She is survived by her canine companion Chloe, of the home, her children, Douglas Mitchell of Sabetha, KS, Jacqueline (Rodney) Epple of Tecumseh, KS, and Pamela Powell (Ron) of Soldier, KS, and grandchildren, Charlotte (James) Worden, Debra Thompson, Elaina Powell, Christopher Powell, and Allison Reynoldson. She has five great-grandchildren, Gregor, Elizabeth, and Jaxon Brassfield, Noah Sperline, and Adler Romines and several cherished nieces and nephews.

A Memorial service for Susan will be March 20, 2021, at 11:00, at the Church of the Brethren in Sabetha, KS. Inurnment will follow at the Albany Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to Lakeside Terrace or Angie’s Kids in Sabetha, KS.
