Karen Sue “Susie” Barnett, 64, of Bonner Springs, KS, died Tuesday, January 19, 2021 at her home.

She was born December 16, 1956 at Kansas City, KS, the daughter of Edward Eugene and Martha Anne Johnson Theno, and was raised by her adopted mother and father, Sharon and Johnny Hylton. She was a 1974 graduate of Linwood High School. She lived in Bonner Springs after moving from Nortonville, KS, and had formerly lived in Tulsa, OK and Terry, MT.   Karen served four years as a para educator for Atchison County U.S.D. #377 in Effingham  and had formerly worked in Civil Service at Ft. Leavenworth and as a cook at various schools and hospitals.

She married to Thomas James “Tom” Barnett on April 27, 1974 at Kansas City, KS, he survives at home. She is also survived by her adopted mother, Sharon Hylton, one daughter, Marsha (Dana) Cole, Tonganoxie, one son, Jesse Thomas (Sabrina) Barnett, Tonganoxie, one brother, Dennis (Donna) Theno, Basehor, five sisters, Terry Nunn, Olathe, Darlene “Mitzi” Payton, Bonner Springs, Gayle (Greg) Gorman, Tonganoxie, Kim (George) Waters, Bonner Springs, Dawn (David) Bailey, Bonner Springs, six grandchildren, Kaitlyn Barnett, Cadence Cole, Gavin Barnett, Conner Cole, Gracelyn Barnett and Gage Barnett. She was preceded in death by her parents, her adopted father, Johnny Hylton.

Funeral Service will be 10:00 AM, Monday, January 25, 2021 at Elm Grove Baptist Church, Bonner Springs. Visitation 2:00 to 4:00 PM, Sunday, January 24, 2021 at Barnett Family Funeral Home, Oskaloosa.
