Thomas Henry “Tom” Gold, 96, of Goff, KS, passed away Saturday, November 21, 2020 at Medicalodge Jackson County. He was born June 30, 1924 in Baker, KS, the son of Thomas H. and Edna (Anderson) Gold.

Tom graduated from Goff High School and attended K-State University for one semester; before enlisting. He proudly served in the United States Air Force in the Southwest Pacific during WWII as a navigator on a B-24 Bomber.

He was a member of the Goff United Methodist Church, American Legion in Goff, Goff Lions Club. He served on the board of directors for USD 441 School Board and Rural Water District.

Tom married Alyce M. Burke on June 27, 1948 in Bendena, KS. She preceded him in death on April 18, 2004. He was also preceded in death by a son, Michael Gold; a granddaughter, Chelsea Gold and 5 sisters, Helen Schuetz, Agnes Maddy, Etta Zabel, Dorothy Edwards and Jane Bottiger.

Survivors include 4 sons, John Gold of Topeka, KS, Gary Gold (Connie) of Hugoton, KS, David Gold (Cheryl) of Emporia, KS and Patrick Gold of Goff, KS; sister, Anna May McCrerey of Frisco, CO; 10 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.

Tom will lie in state Monday afternoon, November 23, 2020 and Tuesday until 5:30 p.m. at Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Private Family Graveside with Military Honors will be Friday at Fairview Cemetery in Goff, KS. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Wetmore V.F.W. or Holton V.F.W. or Holton American Legion Due to the critical situation we all are in, please remember the families during this difficult time and consider sending a card of condolence or posting on our website.
