Wanda Lowe

Wanda Lou [Schmitt] Lowe of Horton, Kansas, passed away on Monday, September 28, 2020 at the Mission Village Living Center in Horton, KS.

She was born on March 6, 1932 in Powhattan, KS, the daughter of Ralph H. and Vertie L. [Williams] Schmitt.  She graduated from Powhattan High School, then attended Stormont Vail School of Nursing and later graduated from McPherson Technical School as an LPN.  Wanda's nursing passion was in the geriatrics field, which lead her to positions in several long-term care facilities while living in western Kansas.

Wanda was a life-long member of the United Methodist Church, actively singing in the choir, and participating with many other church functions. Wanda was also involved in clubs and activities in the communities she lived in. She loved reading and playing the piano and spending time with her six children and grandchildren.  On March 25, 1951 she married Kaye Don Lowe at the Powhatan Methodist Church. They were married for 52 years.

Survivors include Michael Lowe, Huntsville, AL; Gail [Jim] Streeter, Everest, KS; Denise [Tracy] Streeter, Lawrence, KS; and Jon [Diana] Lowe, Paul [Terri] Lowe, and Ralph Lowe, all of Reno, NV.  She is also survived by 15 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. 

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Kaye Don who passed on August 11, 2003; grandsons Casey Lowe and Joshua Lowe; sisters Bernice and Marian and brother Bernard.
