Sarah Emily (Smart) Witte, 86, of Atchison, KS passed away on Monday, June 1, 2020 at the Atchison Senior Village surrounded by her three daughters.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, June 3, 2020 at Trinity Lutheran Church with Rev. Robert Ziegler officiating. Burial will follow in the Sugar Creek Cemetery, Rushville, MO. The family will receive friends and family one hour before the funeral at the church. Memorial contributions are suggested to Trinity Lutheran Church Endowment Fund and may be sent in care of the Becker-Dyer-Stanton Funeral Home who is handling the arrangements. Sarah was born on May 26, 1934 in Atchison KS the daughter of Doug A. and Mary H. (Hilligoss) Smart, Sr. She attended Atchison High School. Sarah worked as a caregiver and florist. She was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church and served on the Kennedy Evangelism calling team for many years. Sarah enjoyed visiting and sharing the gospel with many people she talked with and spent a lot of her time in a card ministry to all the servicemen in the military and to all the people she knew. Sarah also enjoyed painting, gardening, canning, baking and candy making, crocheting and especially spending time with her family, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She was married to Albert E. Witte on Oct. 12, 1950 at the Carol Baptist Church, Atchison KS. He preceded her in death on Jan. 10, 2018. Survivors include three daughters, Pam (Dean) Harden, Everest, KS, Sandy Peuker, Rushville, MO., Cindy (Allen) Harden, Lancaster, KS., a son-in-law Robert Delzeit, Rushville, MO., a sister Patricia Turner, Atchison, KS , eight grandchildren and twenty great grandchildren. Her parents, husband Albert, a daughter Jeannie Delzeit, a great granddaughter Rheagan Smith and great grandson Jayden Filbert, three brothers Robert, Douglas and Thomas Smart, three sisters Bessie and Betty Smart, and twin sister Mary Moore.
