Willard Binder
Wherry Mortuary of Humboldt
Table Rock , NE

Willard Dale Binder was born to Violet Mary (Branek) and Charles Jacob Binder on October 24, 1927 on the family farm west of Table Rock. He was the youngest of five boys, Charles, Glenn, Joe and Leland.  He attended school in Table Rock and graduated with his class in 1945.  In March 1950, Willard and his brother, Leland bought the local lumberyard and Binder Brothers was established. Later a ready mix concrete plant was added. As they grew, his sons joined him in the family business. Willard took great pleasure in designing projects for people. He enjoyed serving the community and spent many hours helping customers.
On November 13, 1954, Willard married Minnie Louise Parks. They settled into a home they built in Table Rock and were blessed with seven children. When the family outgrew the small house, they designed and built a new home a few blocks away. The family made many memories on the road- Sunday drives in the country, riding along on concrete deliveries, driving highway 50 or out of state to pick up supplies for the business, and trips to visit children and grandchildren in other states. Most trips included ice cream somewhere along the route. Some trips, like taking the family to Texas in the back of a straight truck to exchange a cement drum, were quite unique and have provided many stories over the years. In recent years Willard could often be found cracking walnuts to give to others. We will all miss our nut supplier. He enjoyed card games, often beating opponents at Rummy and entering into lively bidding in Some R Set, Pinochle and Hearts.
Willard had a deep passion for God and serving. He was active in the local church, the Gideons International, the prison ministry in Tecumseh and also served on many community boards.  One of his favorite verses was 2 Timothy 1:12 “For this reason I also suffer these things; nevertheless, I am not ashamed, for I know whom I have believed and am persuaded that He is able to keep what I have committed to Him until that Day.”
At home, surrounded by family, Willard entered his true, eternal home on Wednesday, May 27, 2020.  He was preceded in death by his parents, toddler sister Ruth Binder, all four brothers, son-in-law Tony Taylor, many in-laws and friends.
Willard is survived by his loving wife of 65 years Minnie of Table Rock, children: Dr. Jonathan Binder and wife Karen of Wyoming, Rebecca DuBois and husband Neil of Michigan, Martha Lessen and husband Eldon of Illinois, Sarah Taylor of Ohio, Peter, Charles and Samuel Binder of Table Rock, grandchildren: Nicholas Binder and wife Megan of Florida, Dr. Matthew Binder of Texas, Raelyn, Ruth and Grace Lessen of Illinois and great-grandson Declan of Florida. Other survivors include four sisters-in-law, numerous nephews and nieces, plus many friends.
Willard’s heart for Jesus, love of people, quiet little smile and the twinkle in his eyes will be greatly missed.
