Patricia Ann Ortez, 99, of Horton, Kansas, passed away on Thursday, May 28, 2020 at the Vintage Park Living Center in Holton, Kansas. She was born on May 20, 1921 in Horton, Kansas the daughter of Bicente and Monica Rojas Ramirez.

Pat attended school and grew up in Horton, Kansas, she then moved to Miami, Oklahoma for a short time. Pat then moved to Clay Center, Kansas living there for 45 years before returning to Horton. Pat was a photographer owning and operating her own studio called Pat's Studio in Clay Center for many years before retiring.

She was a member of the American Professional Photographer Association, International Photographer Association, St. Leo's Catholic Church and the Altar Society.

Survivors include a brother, Greg Ramirez of Horton, Kansas; son-in-law, Rex (Sandy) Carlson of Clay Center, Kansas; three grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, daughter, Joyce Ann Ortez Carlson, sister, Mary, 4 brothers, Antonio, Aristeo, John and Anthony Ramirez.

Friends may call on Monday, June 1, 2020 at the Dishon-Maple-Chaney Mortuary in Horton, Kansas. Friends may call on Wednesday, June 3, 2020 at the Neill-Schwensen-Rook funeral home in Clay Center, Kansas until 1:30 P.M.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday at the Greenwood Cemetery in Clay Center, Kansas. Memorials may be made to the Patricia Ortez memorial fund to be used for a high school scholarship and may be sent in care of the Dishon-Maple-Chaney Mortuary.
