Naida “June” Jepson, 92, of Soldier, KS, passed away Saturday, February 15, 2020 at her home with family by her side. She was born May 8, 1927 in Circleville, KS, the daughter of Floyd Walter and Ella Marie (Stephenson) Slimmer.

June graduated from Circleville High School in 1946. She began working for Soldier High School as a cook for 7 years and later she worked for Denison State Bank in Holton for 32 years.

She was a member of Soldier Christian Church, Jackson County Historical Society, Holton Hospital Auxiliary, Soldier Senior Citizens Center, Ladies Coffee Club and Soldier Ladies Card Club.

June married Marion “Dale” Jepson on September 29, 1946 in Holton, KS; he preceded her in death on January 18, 1994. She married Charles J. “Chuck” Werns, Sr. on October 13, 2001 in Mission, KS; he preceded her in death on December 15, 2009. She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Cheryl Smith on October 20, 2009 and a sister, Wanola Buss on June 29, 2019.

Survivors include 2 sons, Daryl Jepson (Joy) of Topeka, KS and Kent Jepson (Jayne) of Soldier, KS; a son-in-law, Ron Smith of Topeka, KS; 2 step-daughters, Mary Keirsey (Jim) of Gilbert, AZ and Nancy Miller (Dan) of Anchorage, AK; a step-son, Charles Werns, Jr. (Charla) of Stoughton, WI; 2 brothers, Bill Slimmer (Shirley) of Topeka, KS and Gary Slimmer (Barbara) of Topeka, KS; 12 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be 11:00 A.M. Saturday, February 22, 2020 at the Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Burial will follow at the Soldier Cemetery. Family will greet friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to the Soldier Christian Church or Holton Community Hospital Hospice.
