Francis “Jim” Levret, Jr., 75, of Hiawatha, Kansas passed away Monday, August 19, 2019 at the Maple Heights Nursing Home in Hiawatha.

Jim was born July 25, 1944 in Sabetha, Kansas the son of Francis J. Levret, Sr. and Mildred M. (Spellmeier) Levret. He attended and graduated from Goff High School. After graduating he started working for his families trucking company, Levret Trucking. In July of 1963, Jim served in the Kansas Army National Guard, and was honorably discharged in February of 1974. In the early 1980’s, Jim took over the family business, Levret Trucking.

Jim married Sarah Frayer on July 7, 2006 in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. Jim loved to go fishing, driving across the country in his 18 wheeler, riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle, and spending time with his family.   

Jim was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Gannon Levret; and his two sisters, Mary Kaminski and Patti Grollmes.

Jim is survived by his wife, Sarah of the home; his children, Jamie (Sherry) Levret of Tecumseh, KS, Mark (Trish) Levret of Powhattan, KS, Cedar Levret (Justin Bruckshaw) of St. Joseph, MO, and a step-daughter, Tammy (Simon) Proctor of Holton, KS; his sisters, Linda Miller and Helen Sourk, both of Hiawatha, KS; 10 grandchildren, and 4 great-grandchildren.

Funeral service will be held Thursday, August 22, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. at Popkess Mortuary Chapel in Sabetha, KS. Visitation will be Wednesday, August 21, 2019 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be made in the St. Augustine’s Catholic Church Cemetery.
