Melvin Dean Guffey, 67, of Winchester, died Tuesday, April 24, 2019 at the University of Kansas Hospital in Kansas City.

Melvin  lived in Winchester since 2008, moving from Riverside, CA.  He was born May 18, 1951 in Novinger, MO, the son of Grover Cleo and Norma Jean Glaspie Guffey.  He was a 1971 graduate of Jefferson County North High School and served three years in the U.S. Navy. He worked 20 years as a custodial  floor technician for hospitals in California before retiring in 2008. 

He is survived by two brothers, John Guffey, St. Joseph, MO, Richard Guffey, Winchester, one sister, Betty Gast, McLouth, and extended family.  He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant brother, Grover C. Guffey, JR.

Funeral Service will be 1:00 PM, Wednesday, May 1, 2019 at Barnett Family Funeral Home, Oskaloosa. Burial will be at Winchester-Wise Cemetery.
