Marion E. Marmet, 85, of Sabetha, Kansas died Thursday, April 25, 2019 at the Sabetha Community Hospital.

Marion was born June 22, 1933 in Sabetha the son of Wesley and Viola (Eichelberger) Marmet. Marion was raised on a farm north of Sabetha and attended Rock Creek Grade School. He graduated from Honey Creek High School in 1951. Upon graduation, he farmed and worked at the Nemaha Cooperative Creamery in Sabetha.

Marion married Bernita Bucher of DuBois, Nebraska in 1953. He served two years in the U.S. Army (1955-1956) with one year in Korea. Marion owned and operated his business, “Marmet’s Service,” for 27 years where he sold and serviced household appliances and did electrical wiring, refrigeration, heating and air conditioning.

Marion loved the outdoors and for all of his life was an avid fisherman and hunter. In retirement, he joined the Topeka Wood Carvers Association and pursued his loved of nature by carving ducks, fish, pictures, and also made many pieces of furniture. He was a member of the NorthRidge Church, formerly the Congregational Church, where he served as a Trustee and Assistant Sunday School Superintendent.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Melvin Marmet and Merle Marmet.

He is survived by his wife, Bernita of the home; his son, Terry (Mary) Marmet of Topeka, KS; his daughter, Brenda (Richard) Coldiron of Wichita, KS; his brother, Paul Marmet of Holton, KS; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Funeral service will be held Monday, April 29, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at the Popkess Mortuary Chapel in Sabetha, KS. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. prior to service time at the funeral home. Interment will be made in the Sabetha Cemetery following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to NorthRidge Church of Sabetha, sent in care of Popkess Mortuary, 823 Virginia Street, Sabetha, KS 66534.
