Charles R. “Dick” Lutz, 82, of Atchison, Kansas died Monday, February 11, 2019.

Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, February 15, 2019 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Benedict’s Church with Fr. Jeremy Heppler, OSB officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens. A parish rosary will be at 9:30 A.M. followed by visitation with the family until 11:00 A.M. at the church. Memorials are suggested to St. Benedict Parish or Maur Hill-Mt. Dick was born July 14, 1936, in Atchison, Kansas, the son of Joseph and Catherine (Ernst) Lutz. He attended St. Benedict’s Elementary and graduated from Maur Hill Prep School.

He and Rose Fraizer were united in marriage on October 10, 1964, at St. Benedict’s Church. Rose preceded him in death on June 23, 2006. On March 27, 2009, Dick and Joan Snodgrass-Myers were married at St. Benedict’s Church.

Dick was employed with Blish Mize for 43 years until his retirement in 1995. He last served as V.P. of operations.

He was a member of St. Benedict Parish. He was also a member of Knights of Columbus Council #723, the Flemming-Jackson-Seever Post #6 of the American Legion. Dick enjoyed golfing, fishing and playing cards, especially his afternoon game of pitch.

Survivors include his wife Joan Lutz, Atchison, KS, a son, Mike (Micah) Lutz, Shawnee, KS, a daughter, Pamela Bowron, Olathe, KS, two step-sons, Mike (Agnita) Myers, Branson, MO, Bob (Lori) Myers, Atchison, KS, a step-daughter, Janelle (Bob) Martens, Weatherby Lake, MO, four grandchildren, Lilly, Max, Madison, Nick, four step-grandchildren, Jack, Luke, Jennifer, Stephanie, and three step-great grandchildren, Addison, Aaden and Callie.

He was preceded in death by his six brothers, Clarence, Al, Leonard, Bernard, Raymond and Jerry Lutz, and six sisters, Kathleen Scholz, Eileen McCaffrey, Rosemary Lutz, Joan Piccoli, Dorothy Lutz and an infant sister.
