William Edward “Bill” McNew, 94, Big Lake, Missouri, formerly of Independence, Missouri, passed away Friday, January 18, 2019, at Oakridge Nursing Facility, Plattsburg, Missouri.

He was born February 12, 1924, in Elmer, Missouri.

Bill enjoyed gardening and flowers, and his family always said he had a green thumb. Bill especially enjoyed African Violets. He had several small dogs throughout the years and loved his chihuahuas and rat terriers. Bill was a big fan of westerns and country music. He and his wife were frequent snowbirds in Yuma, Arizona.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth; step-daughter, Charlotte Sellars; sister, Dorothy Moncrief; brother, Cliff McNew, and parents.

Bill is survived by his stepson, James Franklin “Butch” Wells, Jr., (Anne), Stewartsville, Missouri.

Farewell Services 1:00 P.M. Friday, Pettijohn & Crawford Family Funeral Service. Interment Mount Hope Cemetery.
