Mildred Oenbring

Mildred Augusta Oenbring, age 94, died Nov 18, 2018 at Nemaha Valley Community Hospital.  She was born Jan 11, 1924 at Baileyville, Kansas, the daughter of Albert and Elizabeth Bokern Fox.  She attended schools in Seneca, Baileyville, and St. Benedict.

She married Raymond John Oenbring on Jan. 9, 1946.  They lived on their farm north of Baileyville for nearly 50 years, before moving in 1994 to Seneca where they built their retirement home.  They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in Seneca prior to

Raymond’s death on July 1, 1997.  Later in her life, Millie enjoyed the companionship of Charlie Krogman and Regis Tanking and these relationships brought her great joy.
In 2016, Millie moved to Country Place Senior Living in Seneca where she lived and received excellent care until shortly before her death.

Millie was a homemaker and a member of St. Michael’s Church in Axtell, where she was a member of St. Michael’s Guild and was a Eucharistic Minister for 17 years.  She also taught religion and volunteered in the school library.

After her children were raised, she worked as a nurses’ aide for 25 years at the Axtell and Seneca Hospitals.  She retired from Nemaha Valley Community Hospital with 24 years of dedicated service.

After moving to Seneca, she was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Church, a member of the Altar Society, and was a weekly member of Perpetual Adoration.  She was treasurer of the hospital guild and volunteered at the Bloodmobile.  She also worked on the election boards for many years.

Millie enjoyed attending her sons’ sporting events, and was active in bowling, dancing, exercising, walking, and playing cards.  She dearly loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Millie is survived by three sons – Patrick (Brenda), Michael, and John (Maggie).  She is also survived by six grandchildren – Corrine Bresko (Marcus), Raymond Oenbring (Sarah), Vassar Oenbring,  Anna Oenbring, John Oenbring Jr., and Jaynecce (Rosie) Bigelow, and one step grandchild – Keith Kessler.  She is also survived by four great grandchildren – Wyatt, Zane, and Claire Bresko, and Olivia.

She was preceded in death by her husband Raymond and brothers Ignatius, Vincent, Sylvester, Donald, Albert, Benedict and Raymond Fox and sisters Sr. Aurelia Fox OSB, and Loretta Jurko.

Rosaries will be prayed at 2 & 7 PM Tuesday, November 20, 2018 at Lauer Funeral Home in Seneca. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 AM Wednesday, November 21, 2018 at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Seneca.  Burial will be in the St. Michaels’ Catholic Cemetery in Axtell.

Memorials can be given in Bev’s memory to Sts. Peter and Paul School, Mt. St. Scholastica Convent and or NVCH and sent in care of the family.
