Robert Alan “Bob” “Red” Anderson, 79, of Mayetta, KS passed away peacefully at his home, on Sunday, July 15, 2018; on his birthday. He was born July 15, 1939 in Portland, OR, the son of Irwin Winfold and Louise Annette (Robinson) Anderson.

 Bob graduated from Topeka High School in 1957. He proudly served in the United States Marines from June 30, 1957 – April 10, 1965, during the Korean Conflict and Vietnam Era.

On February 12, 1963 he married Judith Ann Jacobson in Mayetta. To this union were born; Sharon, Vicki and Alan. They later divorced.

On April 9, 1982 he married Celia F. Pausewang in Tecumseh, KS; she passed away with cancer on December 4, 1983.

Bob married Mary Gerhardt on June 1, 2013 in Mayetta; she survives of the home. Bob is also survived by his children, 2 daughters, Sharon Anderson-Bosse of Mayetta, KS and Vicki Armstrong (Mike) of Mayetta, KS; a son, Alan Scott Anderson of Kansas City, KS; 3 step-children, Doug and Dale Pausewang both of Wichita, KS and Vannette Shunk (Jeff) of Horton, KS; 5 grandchildren, Rachael, Sarah, Rebecca, Sophie and Sadie Jo; 2 great-grandchildren, Delilah and Wyatt and 1 brother, Joseph Gary Anderson of Topeka, KS.

 Bob was a member of the American Legion Post 225 in Ozawkie. He loved raising Quarter Horses and was a member of the American Quarter Horse Association; he was recognized as a 50 year AQHA breeder in 2014. He was a member of the Mayetta Cutting Horse Association, Brushbuster Saddle Club and Circleville Saddle Club. Bob helped organize the On the Trail for a Cure trail rides in the Flint Hills. He also helped with the Mayetta Mustangs 4-H Horse Club project for many years. Horses were a big part of his life.

Bob worked for Flexel formerly DuPont in Tecumseh for 31 years; he retired in 1996.

Bob has chosen cremation. Family will greet friends from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Friday evening, July 20, 2018 at the Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Memorial graveside service with Military Honors will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday morning, July 21, 2018 at the Mayetta Cemetery.
