John Bernard Schaible, 67, answered His call, as a result of a fire at the family home near Fairview in the early morning of February 1, 2018.

John was born June 19, 1950 at St. Anthony Hospital in Sabetha, KS the son of Bernard Dale and Alice Jane Sterns Schaible. He graduated from Hiawatha High School in 1968 and attended Highland Community College, Kansas State University and Washburn University. John was married to Janet Boos on June 30, 1996. He spent his entire life on the family farm near Fairview and was known for having a generous heart and for his love for his many dogs over the years.

Surviving John are his brother James and wife Jeannie of Kansas City, MO; a niece Eva Schaible of San Francisco, CA and nephews: Collin Schaible of Sydney, Australia; Aidan and Nicholas Schaible of Kansas City, MO.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister-in-law Una Schaible; and his nephew, John Connor Schaible.

A Celebration of John's life is planned for 11:00 a.m., Friday, February 16 at the United Church of Christ in Fairview with Pastor Shane Spangler officiating. The family will meet with friends after the services. A mass in John's honor will be held at 4:00 p.m. Saturday, February 17 at Sacred Heart Church, Sabetha, KS.

Memorial contributions are suggested for the Brown County Humane Society or the Fairview-Walnut Volunteer Firefighters in care Chapel Oaks Funeral Home, 124 S 7th St., Hiawatha 66434, who is assisting the family with the arrangements.
