Eddie Walter “Tim” Figgs, 81, Hoyt, died Friday, June 23, 2017, at Midland Care at Linnwood Park Assisted Living at Valley Falls.

He was born Dec. 24, 1935, at Boyle, east of Valley Falls, the son of John and Jane Edna Fletcher Figgs. He graduated from Valley Falls High School in 1953 and then served in the US Army.

Tim worked for AT&T Phone Co. in Topeka, retiring after 35 years of service. He enjoyed golfing and fishing.

He married Avis Cain, Feb. 21, 1959, at Louisville, KY. He was preceded in death by four brothers, Steve, George, Don and John Figgs; a sister, Johann Forrestt; and a grandson, Matthew Figgs.

Survivors include his wife, Avis, of the home; two sons, Jack (Ally) Figgs, Topeka, and Daylan (Paula) Figgs, Ft. Collins, CO; a daughter, Kristine (Kevin) Brunton, Topeka; a brother, Jack Figgs, Topeka; six grandchildren, Zachary and Nathaniel Figgs, Heath and Levi Brunton, and Ethan and Kelseigh Figgs. Tim’s family is looking forward to the birth of their first great-grandchild later this year.

The Memorial Graveside Service will be at 10:00 a.m. Friday, July 14, 2017, at the Valley Falls Cemetery. Military honors will be conducted by Grahem-Herbers Post 3084, Veterans of Foreign Wars. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday, July 13, at Mercer Funeral Home in Valley Falls.
