Richard David Mannell

Richard David Mannell, 76, of Holton, KS passed away Monday, March 20, 2017 at a Houston hospital. He was born February 3, 1941 in Peru, IN, the son of Kenneth Robert and Dolly Elizabeth (Rogers) Mannell.
 
Richard graduated from Holton High School in 1959. He worked as a control mechanic for DuPont / Flexel in Topeka for over 35 years. He later worked as a slot technician for Harrah’s Prairie Band Casino. He was a member of the Evangel United Methodist Church in Holton. Richard had also been a member of the Holton Country Club and the 16-75ers Square Dance Club.

 He was married to Virginia Ann Springer April 22, 1960 in Wetmore, KS. In addition to his wife, Virginia, Richard is survived by his daughters; Robin Carley (George) of Bixby, OK, Laura Stauffer (Kevin) of Holton, KS and Cindy Finch (Darrel) of Lyndon, KS; his son, David Mannell (Laura) of Topeka, KS; his sister, Nelda King (Bill) of Manhattan, KS; his brother, Stanley J. Mannell (Baltie) of Holton, KS; 11 grandchildren, Jacob, Zachary and Luke Carley, Danielle Korte, Jennifer Nixon, Marissa Coyle, Andrew and Robert Mannell, Adam Stauffer, Ellie Klepees and Kenley Stauffer; 6 great-grandchildren, Jordan and Landon Korte, Hunter Carley and David, Dante and Natalia Stauffer. He was anxiously awaiting 2 new great-grandchildren this summer. He was preceded in death by his parents, his grandson, John Mannell and his brothers, Raymond Mannell and Kenneth Mannell, Jr.

 Celebration of Life services for Richard will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, March 24, 2017 at the Evangel United Methodist Church (Family Life Center). He will lie in state at the Mercer Funeral Home in Holton where the family will greet friends from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday evening.
