Barbara Joan Flor Antholz Kennedy

Born July 5, 1926 Valley Nebraska and passed away October 17, 2016 Brownville, Nebraska.

Barbara’s parents were Willard Craig Flor and Ruie Berniece (Campbell) Flor of Valley, Nebraska. Barbara attended primary school at Rural School Douglas County #22 and high school at Valley High School, graduating in 1944.  She then attended Colorado Woman’s College from 1944 to 1946. She also attended Creighton University and the University of Nebraska in Lincoln.

Barbara married Ralph Henry Antholz in 1949. Son Ralph was born of the union in 1950.  Ralph Sr. passed away from polio in 1952.  Barbara and Clay Kennedy were married September 6, 1953. Clay passed away December 11, 2014. Clay and Barbara had celebrated 61 years of marriage.

Barbara was a farmer’s wife for those 61 years. She graded and sold apples and sold seed corn. She cooked for pickers and other workers on the farm while raising 4 children;

She has 7 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.

Barbara was a 60+ year member of the Daughter of the American Revolution serving as Regent several times, a 60+ member of P.E.O. Chapter AU, Peru serving as President several times as well as other offices, a 50+ year member of the Order of the Eastern Star, was a charter member of the Brownville Historical Society, was a 44 year member of Tuesday Literary Club, and a member of the Auxiliary of Gideons International. Barbara taught Sunday school and Vacation Bible School for many years. She also taught knitting and other skills with 4H.   

Barbara was an avid reader, knitter, seamstress, and painter. She loved flowers especially iris. Barbara sewed blankets for each grandchild and made special Christmas stockings for each of them. She loved her family deeply and was involved in as many family activities as possible.  

She is preceded in death by her parents Willard and Ruie Flor, husband Clay, son Ralph, a brother John Flor, and her sister Betty Webb. She is survived by daughter Nancy Wheeler and husband Steve, Brownville, daughter Linda Lueders and husband Ken, Albuquerque New Mexico, son Stephen Kennedy and wife Chris, Brownville. 7 grandchildren; Sarah and husband Mike Roehlk, Durango, CO, Thomas Wheeler, Omaha, Matt and wife Lauren Lueders, Sanford, NC, Stephanie Wheeler, Lincoln, David Wheeler and fiancé Azalia Pruitt, Omaha, Andrew Kennedy, Brownville, and Elijah and wife Myranda Kennedy, Lincoln, along with 3 great grandchildren; Kaia Roehlk, Scout Roehlk, and Carter Kennedy.

Memorial Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, October 28, 2016, at the Peru Community Church in Peru, Nebraska with Pastors Ray & Becky Girard officiating.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m.-8 p.m. on Thursday, October 27, 2016, at The Hall Funeral Chapel in Auburn.  Family will greet friends from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Inurnment will be at the Walnut Grove Cemetery in Brownville, Nebraska.

Memorial contributions may be given to the P.E.O. Chapter AU Peru or Otoe Chapter of D.A.R.
