Grace Ann Brentano, 69, Atchison, Kansas, died Friday, August 26, 2016 at the University of Kansas Medical Center.

Mass of Christian burial will be Tuesday, August 30, 2016 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Joseph’s Church with Abbot Barnabas Senecal, OSB as celebrant. Interment will follow in the Mt. Calvary Cemetery. A parish rosary will be recited Monday, Aug. 29, 2016 at 6:00 P.M. at the Arensberg-Pruett Funeral Home with visitation to follow until 7:30 P.M. Memorial contributions are suggest to St. Benedict Parish and Maur-Hill-Mount Academy and may be left in care of the funeral home. Grace was born on February 20, 1947 in Topeka, Kansas, the daughter of Vincent and Leona (Stallbaumer) Nolte. She attended St. Joseph’s Elementary School in Nortonville, Kansas, Nortonville High School and graduated from Mt. Saint Scholastica Academy in Atchison.

She married James C. Brentano on November 23, 1968 at St. Joseph’s Church in Atchison. Jim preceded her in death on April 19, 2016.

Grace began her employment as a secretary at Mt. Saint Scholastica Academy. She has been the office manager at the former Phalen’s Chevrolet, now Lewis Chevrolet & Buick for over 40 years. She enjoyed gardening, tending to her flowers and decorating for the holidays for other people. She was a selfless person, always putting others before herself. You could always find Grace and her husband Jim enjoying each other’s company on their front porch.

She was a member of St. Benedict’s Parish in Atchison.

Survivors include three sons, Chris Brentano, Lenexa, KS; Jason (Jennifer) Brentano, Shawnee, KS; Curtis Brentano, Fairway, KS, one brother, Robert Nolte, Atchison, KS, five sisters, Kay Brumbaugh, Atchison, KS, Joan (Carl) Hornbeak, Kansas City, KS, Cleta Nolte, Atchison, KS, Alice (Steve) Brentano, Overland Park, KS, Joyce (Tom) Koch, Atchison, KS, and three grandchildren, Allison Brentano, Nathan Brentano and Thomas Brentano.

She was preceded in death by her parents.
