Sammie Joe Blanton Jr. (March 31, 1970 - February 3, 2016) Sammie Joe Blanton Jr., 45, of Everest, KS passed away way too soon on February 3, 2016. Sammie was born on March 31, 1970 in Kansas City, Missouri, the son of Sam and Mary LaLond Blanton of Horton, KS. He owned and operated S&S Towing, a job in which he loved. Prior to that he worked for U.S.D. 430 at the Elementary School as the Head Custodian. Sammie also loved helping his son on derby cars, attending demolition derbies and spending time with his wife, kids and grandkids. On September 16, 1988, Sammie married his best friend and soulmate, Teresa Meyer in Hiawatha, Kansas, she survives the home. Together Sammie and Teresa had three beautiful children, a daughter Katie Blanton (Eric Purvis) of Whiting, Kansas; two sons Timothy (Marissa) Blanton of Horton, Kansas and Lukas Blanton of the home; three grandchildren Raelynn and Tucker Blanton and Joseph Purvis that he adored; his parents Sam and Mary Blanton of Horton, Kansas, brothers Louis Blanton of Horton, Kansas, Chris Long of Horton, Kansas, and Bill Long of Cameron, Missouri; a sister Pebble Hare of North Dakota and many nieces and nephews. He was proceeded in death by a sister Mary Haverkamp. Sammie will forever missed by his family and friends. Funeral Services will be at 10:30 A.M. on Tuesday, February 9, 2016 at the Dishon-Maple-Chaney Mortuary in Horton, Kansas where the family will greet friends from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. on Monday evening at the mortuary. Burial will be at the Horton City Cemetery. Memorials may be sent to the Sammie Blanton Jr. memorial fund to be designated later and may be sent in care of the mortuary.
