Danny L. Howerton, 45, of Mayetta, passed away Sunday, November 29, 2015 at his home in Mayetta.

He was born May 6, 1970 in Topeka the son of Marion and Diane Kennedy (Howerton).  He graduated from Holton High School in 1989 and had lived in Holton area since 1984.  Danny worked at the Jackson County Sheriff's Department for 22 years serving as Dispatcher, Deputy Sheriff, Sergeant of Patrol and Undersheriff.  He was Deputy Sheriff for Denison, Hoyt and Meriden.  Danny was also Assistant Wrestling Coach in Holton for 2 years.

Danny married Robin Anderson, they divorced.  He married Amanda Olsen and they later divorced. On November 29, 2012 he married Samantha Wahquahboshkuk in Forsyth, Missouri.  She survives of the home. Danny is also survived by: his father, Marion (Saundra) Howerton of  Mayetta, KS; his mother, Diane Schwerdt of Garnett, KS;  his sons, Andrew Howerton of Overland Park, KS and Logan Howerton of Oak Harbor, WA; his daughter Grace Howerton of Oak Harbor, WA; his brothers, Mark Howerton and Marion Howerton both of  Mayetta, KS; his sisters, Misty Mathis of Holton, KS, Rosetta Stauffer of Mayetta, KS and Crystal Itope of Pittsburg, KS; and his grandmother, Hazel Kennedy of Garnett, KS.

Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, December 4, 2015 at Mercer Funeral Home in Holton.  There will be no graveside service.  The family will greet friends from 6-8:00 p.m. Thursday, December 3, 2015 at the funeral home.  In lieu of flowers the family strongly suggests memorials to the Danny Howerton Memorial Fund and may be sent in care of Mercer Funeral Home, P.O.
