Sharity Rae Kranz, 30, of Holton, KS passed away Saturday, November 28, 2015 at her home. She was born November 1, 1985 in Horton, KS the daughter of Larry Lane and Tammy Dawn (Strike) Kranz.

Sharity graduated from Jackson Heights High School in 2004. She earned her Certified Nursing Assistant and Certified Medication Aid from Highland Community College. Sharity later received her Licensed Practical Nurse degree from Washburn University.

She worked as a CNA and CMA for Penn Place and Glenmore Meadows both in Holton. Sharity worked as a LPN for Shawnee County Women’s Correctional Facility and VA Hospital both in Topeka. She was currently employed with Shawnee County Women’s Correctional Facility.

Sharity married Cole Gerhardt, they later divorced. She was engaged to be married to Jeff G. Atherly until his death in 2012.

Survivors include her 2 sons, Eric David Gerhardt and Logan Lane Glenn Atherly both of the home; her parents, Larry and Tammy Kranz of Whiting; a brother, Lasten L. Kranz of Whiting; maternal grandmother, Sharon Lewis of Nisswa, MN and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

She was also preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, Lyle Strike and her paternal grandparents, Lloyd and Hilda Kranz.

Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Thursday, December 3, 2015 at the Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Burial will follow in the Penwell-Gabel Cemetery. Family will greet friends from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. Wednesday evening at the funeral home.
