The Kansas Department of Transportation has begun work on the arch on the Missouri side of the Amelia Earhart Bridge near Atchison.
The first rib portion of that arch was set into place late last week.
According to KDOT spokesperson Kimberly Qualls, progress on the bridge is still moving along as scheduled.
She says they have completed the ribs on the Kansas side and after the Missouri side is complete, the will work on the deck portion to connect the two sides.
The project is slated for completion in the fall of this year.
